Andalusia is famous for casual, generous food — free tapas, long lunches, grilled fish by the sea. But the countryside around Cortijo Bujio also hides serious, ambitious cooking: two Michelin stars within about forty minutes, Europe's oldest sturgeon farm producing the world's first organic caviar, and a village restaurant turning the local olive into art. If you care about eating well, you are in exactly the right place. Here is where to book, organised from the villa outward.

A signature meal 15 minutes away — Casa Piolas (Algarinejo)

The closest special dinner to the villa is also one of the most distinctive. Casa Piolas, in the small town of Algarinejo just fifteen minutes away, is an autor (signature) restaurant whose whole philosophy turns around the world of the olive and its oil — fitting, since it sits in the middle of the DOP Poniente de Granada groves. Chef José Caracuel — "Joseíllo" — cooks seasonal, market-driven food that fuses old Andalusian tradition with contemporary technique. It is much loved (around 4.5 on Tripadvisor, 4.8 on Google, with a Granada provincial tourism award), and it is the meal to book if you want something genuinely of this place. (See our companion guide to olive oil in the region.)

Two Michelin stars within reach

La Finca — Hotel La Bobadilla, Loja (~35 min). The nearest Michelin star to the villa is also the most luxurious setting: La Finca, the restaurant of the fabled La Bobadilla, a Royal Hideaway hotel (a Leading Hotels of the World property) in the Sierra de Loja. Awarded its Michelin star in 2023, it serves creative signature tasting menus under chef Pablo González, built around exactly the ingredients this region is proud of — local extra-virgin olive oil, Riofrío caviar and Iberian pork, with optional wine pairings. Country-house dining rooms with terracotta floors and beamed ceilings; closed Sundays and Mondays. This is the special-occasion dinner.

Faralá — Granada (~45 min). In the city, Faralá earned a Michelin star in the 2026 guide. Chef Cristina Jiménez offers tasting menus — Susurros del Sacromonte, La magia del Albayzín and Alborán — that read like a journey through the province's flavours. Pair it with a day at the Alhambra for a perfect Granada outing. (See our Granada & the Alhambra guide.)

Granada city — modern kitchens & tasting menus (~45 min)

Beyond its star, Granada has a genuinely strong roster of ambitious kitchens, most on the Michelin guide's radar:

The caviar experience — Riofrío (~35 min)

One of Andalusia's most surprising luxuries sits in the spring-fed village of Riofrío, near Loja: the oldest and largest sturgeon farm in Europe and the maker of the first certified organic caviar in the world. The sturgeon (Adriatic Acipenser naccarii) are raised without hormones, antibiotics or artificial feed, giving a clean caviar with a distinctive hazelnut note. You can:

A wonderful half-day: farm visit, tasting, and lunch with the fish swimming next door.

Excellent traditional tables in Montefrío (5–15 min)

You don't need a tasting menu to eat memorably here. Montefrío's own restaurants serve the region's honest classics — dominated by pork and superb local olive oil — and a couple punch well above village weight:

Buy your lomo, cheese and oil in the village, too, for perfect villa lunches. (See our food & drink guide.)

And don't skip the free tapas

Fine dining here is at its best alongside the region's honest classics, not instead of them. Granada is one of the last cities in Spain where a free tapa comes with every drink, so an evening of bar-hopping through the Albaicín can be as memorable as any tasting menu. The luxury of this region is range: a Michelin star, a caviar farm and a village mesón within the same short drive.
